About the Author

Little Rock native Rick Joslin received his journalism training at the University of Central Arkansas. He credits his affection for the past to his high school history teacher, Mrs. Cynthia Thornton, who blackmailed Joslin into studying: if he never got a “C” or below on any of her quizzes, she would not tell Joslin’s father that he had “skipped” a day of classes to visit the Little Rock Zoo.
